The Alienist by Caleb Carr 

What’s it about?  Set against the backdrop of 1896 New York, a ritualistic killer is murdering boy prostitutes. A psychologist or “alienist” is called upon to investigate and to eventually answer the question behind what makes a man into a murderer.

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson 

What’s it about? It’s the classic ghost story of four individuals whose stay at Hill House is filled with paranormal events. By the end of their stay, Hill House will choose one to make its own.

Electric Dreams by Philip K. Dick 

What’s it about? Based on the author’s short stories this series seems like it will evoke his next level dreams in science fiction. Set out like Black Mirror each episode explores a new technological progression or strange idea.

Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace and the largest
failed manhunt  in US History by Maureen Orth 

What’s it about? The second installment of American Crime Story looks at the assassination of fashion designer Gianni Versace at the hands of 27-year-old serial killer Andrew Cunanan. Set in 1997 the show then travels back in time to look at the circumstances that shaped both of these men.
Starring – Edgar Ramirez, Darren Criss, Ricky Martin, Penelope Cruz

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury 

What’s it about? A dystopian novel written in 1953 and widely regarded as one of Bradbury’s best works. Set in the distant future where television rules and firemen burn books, along with the houses where they are hidden.
Starring – Michael B. Jordan, Michaela Shannon, Sofia Boutella

Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn 

What’s it about? Fresh out of a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille returns to her hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. Jean-Marc Vallée, the director of Big Little Lies is the reason I’m looking forward to this one.
Starring – Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson, Chris Messina

Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler 

What’s it about? New to New York Tess gets a job at a high profile restaurant and learns to navigate her newfound freedom while having her career expectations, palate and love life expanded. Also with Brad Pitt’s company executive producing I’m excited about this one!
Starring – Ella Purnell, Tom Sturridge, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Paul Sparks

Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan

What’s it about? Set in the distant future where eternal life is possible. Human minds can be stored on metal chips called ‘stacks’ and reinserted into new bodies. After 250 years of being ‘on ice,’ Takeshi Kovacs is resurrected to solve the mysterious death of billionaire Laurens Bancroft.

The Patrick Melrose Novels by Edward St. Aubyn

What’s it about? A five-part limited series which follows Melrose, an aristocratic playboy from his traumatic childhood through his substance abuse in his adult life. Each episode will follow one book each, from the 60’s to the 2000’s.
Starring – Benedict Cumberbatch, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hugo Weaving
Release Date – TBC

Castle Rock

What’s it about? Executive produced by JJ Abrams Castle Rock will attempt to connect the many strands of Stephen King’s universes. Set in a town called Castle Rock, Maine and this show will intertwine some of King’s famous characters and stories. I’m especially looking forward to Castle Rock as Mark Bernardin is involved!
Starring – Sissy Spacek, Bill Skarsgard, Andre Holland
Release Date – TBC
